The Assistant Retail Manager supports the Retail Manager in overseeing daily dispensary operations, ensuring compliance, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role focuses on direct floor leadership, supervising Retail Leads and Retail Associates, and executing the operational strategies established by the Retail Manager. The ideal candidate will be a strong executor who ensures smooth workflows across the sales floor, fulfillment, and drive-thru while maintaining high team performance and operational discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

Assist the Retail Manager in supervising Retail Leads and Associates to ensure they meet performance and customer service standards.

Reinforce team expectations regarding cleanliness, safety, and organization across all shifts.

Support the hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members, promoting a culture of continuous learning.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.

Set clear expectations for team members regarding cleanliness, organization, and workplace safety, reinforcing accountability and consistent execution across all shifts in accordance with NUWU standards.

Operational Management

Logistics Execution:
Implement and maintain workflows for drive-thru and fulfillment to ensure operational efficiency.

Event Support:
Assist the Retail Manager in executing retail operations during on-site events, ensuring seamless coordination.

Compliance & Reporting:
Enforce company policies and standard operating guidelines. Monitor cash handling procedures, ensure POS accuracy, and assist with daily financial reporting.

Floor Presence:
Act as the primary point of contact on the sales floor, identifying and addressing operational risks or discrepancies in real-time.

Step into operational roles as needed to support the team.

Customer Experience

Ensure a consistent, high-quality, and compliant customer experience.

Personally handle and resolve escalated customer issues with empathy, turning negative experiences into opportunities for loyalty.

Promote a culture of product knowledge and personalized service.

Training & Development

Ensure all staff are properly trained in product knowledge, compliance, and service standards.

Hold team members accountable to elevated service standards, dress code, and professional conduct during all shift

Optimize throughput and minimize wait times on the sales floor and drive-thru lanes, ensuring a fast, frictionless experience.

Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age or older.

High School Diploma or GED required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2–3 years of retail, hospitality, or customer service management experience required.

Previous cannabis industry experience preferred.

A passion for hospitality and a proven track record of elevating customer satisfaction scores.

Ability to remain calm and decisive in a fast-paced, high-traffic, and event-driven environment.

Physical Requirements:

Stand and walk for extended periods.

Lift up to 30 lbs.

Bend, twist, and perform light physical labor.
