Overview
LIGENTEC is a young, dynamic and strongly growing company headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland near EPFL. We develop Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) for applications in quantum technologies, LiDAR, space, biosensors, and more.
PositionPhotonic Test Engineer
Key Responsibilities- Executing testing campaigns: conduct internal and customer R&D testing using cutting‑edge chip‑level and wafer‑level optical and electro‑optical testing facilities.
- Test strategy: assess, generate, and validate testing plans, ensuring consistent design‑for‑testability practices.
- Automation & development: develop and operate automated testing tools and instruments, leveraging remote instrument control and automation (Python preferred).
- Data management & reporting: analyze and process measured data, generate test reports for stakeholders, maintain an up‑to‑date test tracking log to assess current and future project intake.
- Scaling test operations: communicate regularly with tool vendors to assess new solutions for scaling test operations and infrastructure.
- Training: train test operators and engineers on developed testing procedures and equipment.
- Communication and collaboration: proactively communicate and collaborate across teams to seamlessly integrate in‑line testing and ensure successful project execution and delivery.
- Education:
MSc, MEng, or PhD in photonics, electrical engineering or a related field. - Experience:
Minimum of 5+ years of hands‑on experience in optical testing of passive and/or active integrated photonics components, gained in a leading university lab or industry. - Technical skills:
Proven experience with remote instrument control and automation, utilizing Python for interfacing with automated testing equipment. - Mindset:
Passionate about measurements, keen to grow further expertise in optical and electro‑optical testing, results‑oriented, pragmatic problem‑solver, adaptable to a dynamic environment with shifting priorities, and focused on timely delivery. - Work style:
Collaborative, transparent team player, independent self‑starter capable of achieving both individual and group objectives. - Communication:
Excellent communication and reporting skills. - Language:
Working proficiency in English.
- Experience with working in a clean‑room environment and proper handling of sensitive materials.
- Code versioning.
- Experience with photonics packaging.
- Experience with electro‑optical testing (DC and RF).
