Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Cost Accountant provides support in both financial and management accounting. The role involves preparing financial reports and budgets, analyzing production costs, updating performance indicators, and monitoring standard costs, profit margins, and inventories. The ideal candidate demonstrates accuracy, autonomy, and strong analytical skills, while ensuring deadlines are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and annual budgets/forecasts.
• Establish and monitor key process indicators and develop new standards.
• Review and analyze production cost variances.
• Update and maintain standard costs.
• Analyze profit margins by program and product.
• Manage and reconcile inventory and work-in-progress accounts.
• Verify and control investment requests and department expenses.
• Maintain detailed fixed asset records and perform account analyses.
• Support new product cost estimation and financial controls.
• Participate in ERP and BI software deployment and data analysis.
• Collaborate during audits and support external auditor requests.

Skills and Competencies

• Excellent knowledge of cost accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical ability for cost and inventory variances.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP and BI software.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Team player with strong initiative and time management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA designation considered an asset.
• 2–6 years of relevant experience in cost accounting and reporting.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Bilingualism (French and English) required.
