Make an impact with our Indigenous Services team as a Senior Accountant. MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business consulting firm for Indigenous governments, businesses and entrepreneurs in Canada. With more than 250 Indigenous clients and 300 team members dedicated to this sector, no other firm has invested as much time and resources into serving the unique needs of Indigenous communities.
Responsibilities
Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagementsSet-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files simultaneously and conduct inventory countsPerform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition and payroll walk-through with clientsSummarize clients’ current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other relevant reportsAssess and assure appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable and prepaid expensesReview, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reportsEstablish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accountsPrepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlightsDevelop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team membersParticipate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunitiesMaintain flexibility to travel, as necessarySkills and Experience
CPA designationExperience working with First Nations communities considered an asset2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experienceExtensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)Experience working with accounting and tax softwareUnderstanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principlesBilingual in French and English is mandatory
