Job description :
A company in the construction industry is seeking an Estimator to join its team. Reporting to the Department Director, the Estimator is responsible for the entire bidding process. This includes preparing, analyzing, and finalizing all required documents while coordinating each step to produce accurate, comprehensive, and compliant estimates. The Estimator also follows up on submitted bids and ensures deadlines are respected.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bid Analysis and Estimation :
Coordinate calls for tenders and analyze received bids.Plan and/or conduct site visits necessary for preparing estimates.Review and analyze plans and specifications to produce detailed and accurate estimates.Ensure that all pricing requests are sent to subcontractors and suppliers.Evaluate and compare internal estimates with those from subcontractors.Verify that the entire project scope is covered by subcontractors; develop complementary strategies as needed.Oversee the preparation of bidding documents and forms.Present final estimates to the Director for approval.Perform any other related tasks tied to the bidding process.Monitor bids and ensure deadlines are met.Bid Production and Follow-Up :
Participate in clarification and negotiation meetings, when required.Ensure proper setup of awarded projects and input financial and labor parameters into internal systems.Support information transfer following contract award, including:
Presenting selected construction strategies;
Communicating project scope, budget, contract schedule, and warranties during kickoff meetings.Skills and qualifications :
Candidate Profile – Skills and Competencies :
Strong ability to quickly understand technical concepts.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent plan-reading skills with strong analytical and synthesis capabilities.Highly organized and detail-oriented in planning and follow-up.Effective communication skills in both French and English, written and spoken.Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.Autonomous, proactive, and responsible.Experience and Education :
DEC in Construction Estimation (or other relevant technical training).Minimum of 3 years of experience in an estimation role.Excellent communication skills.
