Position: R&D Chemist (Surface preparation)
Job description :
Under the supervision of the R&D Laboratory Manager, the Chemist (Cementitious) works primarily in the laboratory on Surface Preparation Products, but also provides laboratory support for Adhesives/Sealants and other products offered by our customer. He/she will play a key role within the company by actively participating in scientific development. He/she will evaluate new raw materials and modify formulations in the laboratory and in the factory.
He/she will develop new testing and trial procedures. In addition, he/she will participate in the development of new products and help production to solve technical problems. Finally, he/she will advise and guide the development of new products.
Job description and responsibilities :
Prospect, evaluate and approve new raw materialsDevelop new formulas to optimize product cost and performanceDevelop, validate and write new analytical methodsWrite detailed protocols adapted to production needsCollect, interpret and communicate analysis results to the various parties involved, and issue recommendationsWork closely with the plant to investigate and resolve quality and/or production problemsInvestigate, communicate and recommend solutions to customer complaintsEnsure transfer of procedures during production start-upWrite technical reports and documentsPrepare and deliver technical presentationsActively contribute to maintaining and improving work environmentRegularly communicate project status to immediate superiorMeet deadlines and work in a fast-paced and changing environmentRespect and implement health & safety and quality assurance rulesPerform all other related tasksSkills and qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in chemistryGood command of French and English (oral and written)Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point Good mathematical skillsWritten and verbal communication skillsProficiency in test preparation and production (planning, organization)Excellent project management skillsAutonomy and creativityAbility to work as part of a teamAbility to learn quicklyAbility to manage time and prioritiesAttention to detail (thoroughness)Member of the Ordre des Chimistes du Québec (OCQ)
