Heavy Plant Fitter – MPV – Balfour Beatty plc

Join our Rail Team in Effingham as a dedicated Heavy Plant Fitter. In this role you will support our Rail Team by maintaining and enhancing our fleet of Multi‑Purpose Vehicles. What you’ll be doing
  • Maintain and repair MPVs and modules in line with company policies
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality) standards
  • Communicate regularly with your line manager and support your team
  • Fault‑find and repair mechanical and electrical systems
  • Complete verbal and written reports on maintenance, faults, and incidents
  • Help drive improvements in quality, productivity and reliability
Essential qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Good resource‑management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to tight maintenance schedules and deadlines
  • Willingness to undertake road‑vehicle driving as required
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation, risk management and COSHH awareness
  • Must meet and maintain the appropriate medical standard for the position
Desirable qualifications
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety)
  • Dual‑trade skills competency (Mechanical/Electrical)
  • Experience in the rail industry
