The Role
The Operations Director will lead the day-to-day delivery of grounds maintenance and associated services across multiple contracts and regions. Reporting to the Founder this role has full accountability for operational performance, service quality, health & safety, people leadership and margin delivery.
This is a senior leadership role requiring a strong balance of operational rigour, commercial awareness and people management in a demanding , contract-led environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all operational activity across grounds maintenance, landscaping and associated services
* Ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across all contracts, meeting SLAs and KPIs
* Own operational budgets, cost control and margin performance
* Drive operational efficiency, productivity and continuous improvement
* Provide visible leadership to Contract Managers, and field teams
* Oversee workforce planning, resourcing, training and performance management
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and regulatory standards
* Lead mobilisation of new contracts and smooth transition of services
* Work closely on tenders, pricing and contract renewals
* Build strong client relationships, acting as senior escalation point where required
* Champion a positive safety culture and high standards of employee engagement
About You
* Proven senior operational leadership experience within grounds maintenance, facilities management, or a similar contract-based service environment
* Strong understanding of multi-site operations and field-based work forces
* Commercially astute with experience managing large operational budgets and P&L
* Confident leading, motivating and developing management teams
* Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental compliance
* Experienced in contract mobilisation and service delivery at scale
* Pragmatic, hands-on and results-driven leadership style
