The Role
A respected multi-disciplinary construction consultancy is looking to grow its Building Regulation Principal Designer (BR PD) team in Leeds. This role has emerged following the Building Safety Act 2022 and focuses on design coordination and Building Regulations compliance. You'll be responsible for ensuring design work meets regulatory standards throughout the design and construction process. You'll work closely with architects, designers, and project teams using established systems and compliance trackers to deliver coordinated, compliant, and well-documented projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead design coordination in relation to Building Regulations compliance.
- Advise project teams on Building Regulations and design compliance requirements.
- Review design information and track progress using internal compliance systems.
- Liaise with design teams, clients, and statutory bodies to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of PD processes within the consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and Building Control.
- Confident coordinating design teams and managing compliance.
- Chartered or professional membership preferred (RIBA / MCIAT / ARB / ACIAT / CIAT).
- Experience as a Principal Designer, Architect, or Building Surveyor advantageous.
- Previous experience in a Building Regulation Principal Designer role preferred, but not essential.
- An Architect or Principal Designer comfortable leading on compliance and managing design coordination.
- A Building Surveyor with solid Building Regulations expertise looking to broaden into Principal Designer responsibilities.
- Naturally organised, confident liaising across multiple departments, and seeking structured career growth in a progressive consultancy environment.
