Job Overview

Transmission Service Operative (Pylon Painters)
CLC Group Limited

The role involves painting electrical tower pylons for the National Grid Contract and other power distribution networks across the UK. The position is part of the Transmissions Services Operative team and requires expertise in tower maintenance, safety procedures, and site risk management.

Location

Nationwide – you may be required to travel to site locations.

Working Hours & Holidays

40 hours per week (Monday to Sunday). Weekends on an alternate basis.
Holidays: 23 days plus bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Paint electrical tower pylons (voltage ratings 33/66/132/275/400kV) for the National Grid Contract and other power distribution networks.
  • Receive and adhere to client Safety Document instructions (training will be provided if required).
  • Complete site risk assessments and other relevant documentation, and work according to company RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statements).
  • Apply and remove portable drain‑earths to dead conductors, following the Drain Earth Control system.
  • Use and inspect Personal Protective Equipment, including fall arrest and tower rescue systems (training provided).
  • Read maps to ensure agreed routes to work locations are followed exactly.
  • Follow client specification standards.
Person Specification
  • Previous experience working on transmission/distribution towers and knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Comfortable working at height and ability to climb.
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Thorough understanding of Health & Safety regulations and consistent use of PPE.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliability and trustworthiness.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude and pride in work.
