The Role
As a mechanical estimator it will be vitaly important to focus on preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a diverse range of mechanical systems, including HVAC, pipework, and large-scale decarbonisation schemes. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients, playing a crucial part in securing new business and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Preparing detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems, encompassing HVAC, plumbing, and pipework.
* Reviewing tender documents, specifications, and drawings,
* Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive quotations.
* Conducting site visits and attending pre-tender meetings as required.
* Collaborating with the projects team to facilitate smooth handover and project delivery.
* Maintaining and updating estimating tools and databases.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in mechanical estimating, with an emphasis on large-scale decarbonisation projects. They must demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical systems and installation practices.
Essential skills and attributes:
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
* Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
