🕐 Mon–Thurs 8:30–4:45, Fri 8:30– 3:30 | Hybrid/WFH | 37.5 hours/week

The Role:
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a key role in overseeing the design processes and managing the mechanical team to ensure the successful development of products. The role involves collaborating closely with the Lead Mechanical Engineer to manage the day-to-day operations of the Mechanical Department, ensuring that all designs comply with industry standards and customer specifications.
Key responsibilities include:
* Mentoring and developing the mechanical team
* Managing the daily workload of the Mechanical Department
* Overseeing the design processes, including creating detailed drawings and bills of materials (BOM)
* Ensuring compliance with BS/IEC standards and customer requirements
* Selecting component parts to meet electrical and mechanical design needs
* Preparing working designs for prototypes and conducting testing
* Collaborating with internal and external teams, including transformer design teams and customers
* Driving research and development of new products and continuous improvement of existing designs
* Providing technical advice and preparing technical specifications at the contract start-up stage
* Managing resource allocation and departmental targets
* Developing and maintaining component libraries
* Providing job/system workflow training to the team
The Person :
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification
* Proven experience in mechanical engineering/design, preferably in transformers or a related industry
* Strong understanding of BS/IEC standards and mechanical design principles
* Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works) for 2D & 3D designs
* Experience in BOM creation and component selection
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
* Strong leadership and communication skills to mentor the team and ensure smooth project execution
