Responsibilities- Undertake research and analysis of policy options, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to align software strategy with HMRC’s priorities.
- Lead horizon‑scanning activities to identify opportunities and risks in the tax software space, advising senior teams on next steps.
- Build and manage evidence bases that inform software policy and strategy changes.
- Maintain productive working relationships with stakeholders across government and industry to ensure policy and strategy deliver on expectations.
- Draft or coordinate briefing, correspondence, submissions, and explanatory notes.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a complex, fast‑paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills to understand complex issues quickly, gather and analyse information, develop solutions, appraise options, and advise confidently.
- Excellent drafting and verbal communication skills, presenting arguments and information persuasively and tailored to the audience.
- Open, supportive and inclusive attitude, challenging where appropriate and advocating the organisation’s position.
- Understanding how your work contributes to the bigger picture, prioritising effectively, managing conflicting demands, and overcoming setbacks.
