Prison Nurse - Leeds & West Yorkshire

Location:

Prisons across West Yorkshire (e.g. Leeds, Wakefield, Welstun)

Pay Rate: £30 - £35 per hour (shift dependent)

Contract Length:
Initial 3-6 months, with extension likely

Shifts:

Flexible – early, late, long days, and nights available

We're looking to speak with Registered Nurses (RGN or RMN) interested in delivering essential healthcare services within the prison system across West Yorkshire. This role offers a varied caseload, a fast-paced working environment, and the chance to make a genuine impact in a non-traditional healthcare setting.

• Providing direct nursing care to individuals in custody, often with complex physical and mental health needs
• Supporting treatment and recovery plans, including medication administration and health screenings
• Handling emergency situations and responding to incidents in a calm and professional manner
• Working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to ensure continuity of care
• Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and adhering to best practice guidelines

• Active NMC registration (RGN or RMN)
• Ideally, experience in prison healthcare, A&E, or substance misuse (though not essential)
• Valid prison clearance (CTC or Enhanced DBS with vetting) is a plus – we can support the process if needed
• Strong communication and clinical decision‑making skills
• Availability for a minimum of 2 shifts per week
