Join BAE Systems as an experienced AWS Developer. As a key member of a Software Engineering team, you’ll work with our National Security Customers to build systems that support their core mission capabilities.

You’ll collaborate with empowered, autonomous Dev Ops teams, flexibly and efficiently understanding, designing, developing, deploying and maintaining applications and services on AWS. You’ll be encouraged to identify new ways of solving problems and work across a range of teams within our customer organisations.

We fully embrace Dev Ops ways of working and build a broad range of capabilities for our customers. We value Engineers who enjoy playing a role in the full delivery lifecycle and are flexible to learn and pick up new technologies. You’ll identify the right technologies for each job and receive training support such as Pluralsight access.

About You
  • Plenty of experience in AWS and in solving complex business issues; regarded as an AWS subject‑matter expert.
  • Demonstrable expertise with AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, Lambda, RDS, KMS, ELB, SNS, SQS, IAM.
  • Scripting skills in Shell, Bash, or Python.
  • Good coding experience in at least one Lambda‑compatible language.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code technologies (e.g., Cloud Formation, CDK, Terraform).
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git, Mercurial, Perforce.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills and a desire to learn new technologies.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, XP, etc.).

It would be great if you also had experience in:

  • AWS Certification at Associate level (Solution Architect, Developer, or Dev Ops).
  • Microservices and API design.
  • Docker and container platforms such as Kubernetes, EKS, ECS.
  • Operational concepts on AWS, particularly monitoring, observability, and Fin Ops.
  • CI/CD tools (Bamboo, Jenkins, Team City, Bitbucket) for streamlining delivery.
  • Automated testing frameworks and continual code testing.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, networking, routing, and firewalls.

Security Clearance is required for this vacancy. If you are not currently cleared, you must be eligible and willing to go through the clearance process.
