This role is part of HMRC’s Enterprise Architecture – Standards, Tools and Artefacts team, working across one of the largest IT estates in Europe. The mission is to deliver an architecture strategy that supports modern internal‑facing services and drives transformation at scale.
Base Pay RangePay range to be discussed with recruiter based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities- Develop and maintain the comprehensive IT architecture strategy, setting standards, technical policy, and direction for the IT estate.
- Create and manage reference architectures, define metadata and taxonomies, and align architectural decisions with strategic goals.
- Support solution design to maximise technology investments, drive innovation, and promote standardisation and adoption of enterprise architecture tools and practices.
- Maintain balanced governance, encouraging compliance and flexibility while streamlining processes for efficiency and scalability.
- Optimise EA processes and tool usage for efficiency and scalability, including designing templates, enforcing data standards, and managing artefact catalogues.
- Model complex systems and communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Develop and maintain architectural standards aligned with the enterprise IT strategy.
- Provide consultancy and guidance to build internal capability and foster a self‑sustaining architecture community.
- Strategic tooling and standards management: experience with repository‑backed modelling solutions and governance frameworks.
- Governance and standardisation: ability to structure deliverables for reuse and maintain architectural standards.
- Framework and notation familiarity: knowledge of TOGAF, Zachman, Archi Mate and all architectural domains.
- Stakeholder management: proven experience engaging and influencing stakeholders at all organisational levels.
