* The opportunity:

** The Leeds based London Market team will be solely focused on London Market Claims. The team work closely with the London based claims team and align to specific lines of business. The team will generally handle higher volume, lower value claims and form a key part of Markel’s Claims Value Proposition.

This role is to work closely with the London Market Claims Team, providing support to Claims Adjusters and the Claims Manager. This involves exemplifying and reinforcing the claims and reserving philosophies through day-to-day handling of claims.
** What you’ll be doing:
*** Work closely with and provide support to the London Market Marine Liability claims team
* Take responsibility and handle a portfolio of High Volume, Low value Marine and Energy Liability Claims
* Handle assigned claims from first notification through to final settlement.
* Update in-house and London market claim related systems in relation to individual claims and ensure the following market are kept apprised of key developments and key information (for example claim potential where this is not fully reserved).
* Diarise and triage claims as required by the Claims Handling Manual and subject these decisions to regular challenge and review. Prioritise claims with significant potential for review and provide or seek challenge on this assessment and to review the reserve is in accordance with the MINT reserving philosophy.
* Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with brokers and (re) insureds and inspire the confidence of our co-insurers and reinsurers. Raise MINT’s profile through excellent interactions.
* Actively manage and take responsibility for the quality of services from TPAs (with delegated claims authority from MINT) as well as lawyers, loss adjusters and any other service providers who represent us. Identify any shortcomings in service and deal with these quickly and professionally and escalate within MINT as is necessary to protect MINT’s interests and those of our customers.
* Internally develop and maintain excellent working relationships with other adjusters within the team, actuaries and underwriters
* Provide the Actuarial and Outward Reinsurance teams with immediate notice of significant claims. Identify trends or concerns and respond promptly to queries raised.
** Our must-haves:
*** Have a working understanding of the London Market and relevant systems
* Preferably have some experience handling Marine and Energy Liability claims
* Build and maintain relationships with colleagues and external contacts.
* Want and be able to contribute and generate ideas to improve the operation of the broader claims team.
* Display well-developed communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact well within the team and with internal and external contacts.
* Display a positive outlook, taking accountability for problems and being proactive in their resolution
* Be resilient and work effectively during pressurised periods of the year to meet deadlines.
