About

The Role

Due to company growth, we are looking to appoint a Drainage Assistant to join our Leeds Depot. Working as part of a two-person team, you will be responsible for attending drainage related issues such as blockages, pipe clearing, cleansing and reactive call-outs.

  • Hours:

    Monday to Friday – 47.5 hours per week
  • Salary: £12.50 - £13 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Operate machinery
  • Ensure all H&S requirements are followed
  • Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns.
  • Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and root ingress.
  • Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipework.
  • Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness.
  • Support CCTV inspections to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
  • Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues.
  • Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under supervision.
Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points)
  • CSCS Card
  • A strong interest in drainage, utilities, or civil engineering
  • A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer skills and a desire to learn new software

Lanes Group will provide all training required for the role such as high-pressure water jetting, confined space, spill response, etc.
