The Band 2 Clinical Support Worker plays a vital role within the Stroke Unit,providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients recovering from strokeand related neurological conditions. Working under the supervision of registered nursing staff, the post holder supports patients with their physical, emotional, and personal care needs while contributing to a safe,clean, and supportive ward environment.

Main duties of the jobAssist patients with personal care needs including washing, dressing, toileting,continence care, and oral hygiene while maintaining dignity and respect.
Support patients with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and the use of mobility aids in accordance with moving and handling policies.
Assist patients with eating and drinking,including those with swallowing difficulties, following guidance from nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team. Carry out delegated clinical tasks suchas recording vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, urine testing, and weighing patients, reporting any abnormalities promptly.
Observe patients physical, emotional, and psychological condition and elevate concerns appropriately.
Support rehabilitation activities and encourage patient independence as appropriate.
Communication and Teamwork Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and carers,providing reassurance and support. Work collaboratively with registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team including therapists and medical staff.
Participate in handovers and contribute relevant patient information when required.
Environment, Safety, and Infection Control Maintain a clean, safe, andwell-organised ward and patient environment.
Cleanand prepare equipment in line with infection prevention and control policies.
Adhere to health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and incident reporting
The Stroke Unit are part of the Centre for Neurosciences. The ward consists of a23-bedded, mixed-sex adult stroke unit that provides expert care, assessment and treatment for patients with acute stroke. The 10-bedded Level 2 Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) admits patients directly from the Emergency Department and functions as a Regional Thrombectomy Centre, also receiving patients from Harrogate. We are an extremely busy service with high demands.

Job Purpose
Toprovide high-quality, compassionate, and patient-centred care to patientswithin the Acute Stroke Unit and Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU), supporting registered nursing staff in the delivery of safe, effective, and timely care.
