We are currently offering a 12month secondment Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse role on the Leeds Childrens Respiratory Ward (L38), to cover maternity leave.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Childrens nurse to undertake the role of a Band 6 Sister / Charge nurse on the L38 Childrens Respiratory and Cystic Fibrosis inpatient ward.
L38 is a 16 bedded paediatric respiratory and medical ward caring for a variety of medical and specialty conditions in children including LTV.
It is an exciting time to join the Paediatric Respiratory as we offer many professional development opportunities including Nationally recognised Leadership Courses, a band 6 development pathway and opportunities to become a leader and advocate for one the Regional Respiratory Services within Yorkshire.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic individual who can ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality patient cantered care to the patients nursed within paediatric medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to work clinically within the multi-disciplinary team, maintain high standards of evidence-based practice while supporting staff on a shift-by-shift basis and provide clinical leadership in decision making.

Thepost holder needs to have relevant experience working as a band 5 nurse inacute paediatrics; have a recognised teaching and assessingqualification/certificate, successful completion of a Level 2 HDU course or isenrolled on a HDU / Escalate course.
Possession of or willing to undertake a recognised Leadership course is desired for thisrole. Evidence of continued professional development and involvement in Quality Improvement is essential.
Thepost holder needs to be able to manage complex situations, have excellent communication skills, providing guidance, supervision, and support to junior members of staff including the wider MDT. You will be required to support theWard Manager/ Matron to monitor the safety and quality of care ensuring the provision of safe, quality care and treatment for patients which delivers bestclinical outcomes and patient experience.
The successful candidates will work closely with the Band 7 Ward Manager and Matronto ensure safe patient care in addition to maintaining quality and serviceimprovements.

Jobresponsibilities
The jobholder will play an essential role assisting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with the 24 hour continuingresponsibility for the effective and efficient management of the ward /department. They will contribute tothe provision of professional, clinical, managerial leadership and supervision for the nursing team. The jobholder is responsible for helping to develop and maintain a ward or departments philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionatesafe and quality care delivery.
By assisting with managing the administrative and financial aspects of the ward, the jobholder will support the cost effective use of resources.
Asan experienced nurse the jobholder will assist in co-ordinating activities onthe ward or department ensuring effective communication is maintained at alltimes, providing support to qualified and unqualified nurses within theward/dept. He/she will play a key rolein the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
The jobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the nursing team and ensuring effective management ofthe ward/department in the absence of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
