Job Description

The postholder will be responsible for carrying out systematic audits of
services against the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the
Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023

To deliver independent assurance on service-level compliance with statutory
regulations and internal quality frameworks, identifying risks, areas of non
- compliance, and opportunities for improvement.

The primary focus of this role will be the Group’s residential children’s homes
and supported accommodation services. Each audit will typically require
three working days:
 Day 1–2:
On-site assessment (file reviews, staff/young people
interviews, observations).
 Day 3:
Report writing and submission.
This is a hybrid role, requiring regular travel to conduct audits across the
Group’s services.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

Audit Delivery:
 Carry out systematic audits of residential children’s homes and supported accommodation against the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023
 Complete each audit within the agreed three-day timeframe (two days on-site, one day for report writing)
Compliance Assurance:
 Provide independent assurance of compliance with statutory and organisational requirements
 Identify areas of non-compliance, risk, and improvement, and escalate urgent safeguarding or compliance concerns immediately
Reporting:
 Produce high-quality audit reports that provide clear, evidence- based judgments and actionable recommendations
 Present findings to Registered Managers, operational leaders, and governance forums
Continuous Improvement:
 Identify common themes and share learning across services to promote best practice
 Contribute to the refinement and development of the organisation’s quality assurance framework

Professional Standards:
 Maintain independence, integrity, and professional objectivity in all audit activity
 Keep up to date with regulatory and inspection frameworks, adapting audit tools and processes as required
 Act as a constructive, professional partner to services, providing challenge and support in equal measure

Requirements for the role;

Strong knowledge of The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and The Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023

Experience of auditing, inspection, or quality assessment in children’s social care
 Ability to analyse evidence and make sound judgments on compliance and risk
 Excellent report writing skills with the ability to present findings clearly and constructively
 Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to engage with staff, children, and young people
 Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to deliver audits within agreed timescales
 Ability to maintain independence, integrity, and professional objectivity
 Driving licence, access to a car, and willingness to travel regularly for work purposes
