You need to be based in Yorkshire – York, Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Huddersfield
The RoleIf successful in securing this role, you will take on the exciting task of strategically driving new business and distribution throughout the UK for our client, who are a market leading manufacturer of an enviable range of greetings cards and gifting products. With the support of 2 sales executives who will report directly into you, you will devise and implement a National commercial plan to support the wider sales team in growing market share throughout the whole of the UK.
Your main remit will be to identify, make contact & build a healthy pipeline of prospects throughout the independent retail channel, with a real focus on garden centres. These could be any business from 1 site stores through to Regional operations, but there is a real appetite to significantly increase relationships with multi‑site operators. As a result your day to day decision makers are likely to be a mix of business owners, store managers, general managers and buyers.
While this is a National role, working either from home or in the field, they are looking individuals based in the North Yorkshire area, who are happy and willing to travel Nationally as and when required so naturally there will be a significant amount of time spent on the road, either meeting with clients or out supporting your team develop and progress.
Once new relationships have been forged you will work closely with the companies team of Regional Sales Managers and Sales Executives to onboard and then seamlessly handover for ongoing account management so that you can focus on what you do best, focusing on future potential customers.
In addition, being the eyes and ears out in the field, you will be expected to report back to the senior leadership team on progress & market insight, to help shape wider company commercial strategy.
About YouTo be considered for this role you must have the following background…
- Proven experience in a national or senior, new business field sales role
- You must have sold into independent retail, ideally garden centres or gift‑led environments, and have a demonstrable track record in opening doors with multi‑site operators/regional chains
- Previous line management or coaching experience would be preferable
- Excellent negotiation, relationship‑building, and communication skills
- Strategic mindset with a hands‑on approach to winning business
- Willingness to travel extensively across the UK
