Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Lead SHEQ Advisor to play a key role in supporting and driving our health, safety, environment and quality standards across all UK operations. This hands‑on position is central to ensuring compliance, embedding best practice, and cultivating a positive, practical safety culture throughout the organisation.

As a visible and engaged SHEQ professional, you will lead by example, working closely with teams on the ground, providing expert guidance, and actively supporting the development of a modern, progressive SHEQ culture across our fast‑moving commercial and technically evolving business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the development and implementation of a practical, effective SHEQ framework aligned with Yü Group’s values and operational needs.
  • Maintaining and enhancing SHEQ management systems, ensuring they remain current, compliant, and fit for a growing business.
  • Ensuring adherence to all relevant UK health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation, standards, and procedures across office and field environments.
  • Taking a hands‑on role in leading and participating in risk assessments, audits, inspections, incident investigations and improvement actions, promoting a learning and prevention‑focused culture.
  • Providing practical SHEQ advice, coaching, and training to Directors, managers and operational teams.
  • Working closely with operational and senior leaders to embed SHEQ considerations into day‑to‑day activities and business decision‑making.
  • Monitoring, analysing, and reporting SHEQ performance metrics and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies including the Health and Safety Executive where needed.
  • Partnering with HR on Occupational Health and well‑being initiatives.
  • Being flexible and mobile across multiple sites, providing visible, hands‑on support, training, and oversight to office and field teams.
Qualifications
  • Hold a NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma or NVQ 5 (or equivalent) and relevant membership of IOS.
  • Proven experience in a senior health and safety role within utilities (electricity, gas and water), or similar sector.
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills comfortable engaging at Board level to Field operative.
  • Ability to influence and drive culture change across diverse teams and environments.
  • Strong knowledge of 2015 CDM regulations and health and safety best practice.
  • Experience of, and a propensity to, roll your sleeves up and show visible leadership.
