Logline: A 16-year-old girl with severe asthma is determined to compete in the Olympics as a swimmer, defying medical warnings and personal doubt to fight for her dream and herself.
Synopsis: Against the Current follows Hazel, a 16-year-old swimmer whose Olympic dream is cut short after a severe asthma diagnosis. She withdraws from the pool, struggling with doubt and frustration, but through filming other athletes, she gradually reconnects with herself. Quietly, she begins training again, not for medals, but to prove she can finish. When an unexpected chance at the Youth Trials arises, Hazel dives in, swimming for herself rather than for victory.
Themes: Acceptance, living with challenges, redefining success, and finding inner strength to keep going.
