Control Software Engineer

Location:

East Midlands – commutable from Nottingham, Leicester and Coventry.

About the client:
Our client has almost 40 years of experience in the manufacture of bespoke automation and robotic systems for a range of industrial applications and is regarded as one of the leading automation system solution providers in the UK. They are now seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Control Software Engineer to complement their established professional team and deliver machine control system solutions for a range of automated machinery projects.

Responsibilities
  • Write and develop software, PLC and HMI code for various automation projects.
  • Electrical design and creation of machine control system solutions for special purpose automated machinery projects.
  • Deliver control and safety systems that comply with the Machinery Directive and all relevant standards.
  • Electrical system design, component selection and generation of detailed circuit diagrams.
  • Integrate various robots, including SCARA, Delta and 6-axis, and liaise extensively with customers, suppliers and team members.
  • Follow projects through design, development and commissioning stages of machine control and safety systems.
  • Create associated electrical documentation including circuit diagrams, cable schedules, installation documents, BOMs and bills of materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant European and international safety standards and correct selection and procurement of all necessary components.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software design and PLC coding.
  • Experience with Omron, Siemens and Allen Bradley equipment.
  • Comprehensive skills in electrical design for machine automation using ePlan.
  • Knowledge of national and international electrical standards for machine design and safety systems and requirements to CE mark machine systems.
  • Degree level or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or a closely related control system discipline.
  • Flexible approach to travel to customer sites across the UK if required.
