Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £35,000 to £50,000 (dependent on experience) + overtime, pension, 25 days holiday, bank holidays, life assurance (4× salary), uniform, parking, company bonus.

Working hours:

37.5 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 08:00‑12:30, 13:00‑16:30;
Friday 08:00‑13:30.

Mechanical Design Engineer required for a professional and growing producer of bespoke machinery used in manufacturing. The company has a niche product range and an excellent reputation and is hiring due to continued growth.

This role would suit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer or a Junior Design Engineer looking to gain further experience within a supportive team. You will have 3D modelling experience (with Solid Works or similar) but can come from any industry background.

Joining a small design team, the successful candidate will be responsible for using Solid Works for the full design and detailing of rotating machinery, ensuring projects are completed on time and to budget. You will select materials and components.

• Using Solid Works to design bespoke machinery.
• Participate in regular design reviews and monitor progress against deadlines.
• Select materials and components with cost and quality in mind.
• Ensure BOMs are updated.
• Work with the project team to ensure all documentation is up to date and recorded.
• Visit suppliers when required.

• Experience with in mechanical design.
• Experience using Solid Works (or similar).
• Any industry background – ideally rotating equipment.
