Position Overview: You will be tasked with responding to customers’ field repair and service requests, diagnosing while providing comprehensive detail about the nature of the problem to the customer and Finning. This information will be used to create a quote that meets the customer’s request within a cost‑effective and time‑effective manner.

Job Description: You will need outstanding customer focus coupled with in‑depth knowledge of plant equipment. The ability to attend site and understand customer needs, then resolve any mechanical or electrical issues in a safe, timely and cost‑effective manner using the most up‑to‑date dealer software and repair techniques.

- Provide an estimate of arrival time at customer’s site in response to a service request.
- Contact customer site management to record arrival, maintain presence on site, and ensure compliance with customer procedures.
- Diagnose the likely cause of reported equipment problems in consultation with customer operators/supervisors.
- Provide comprehensive detail for Finning to construct a quote as requested by the customer.
- Identify required parts, requisition them and determine expected delivery times for service re‑visit agreements.
- Undertake repair and service work on the machine to the agreed work plan, including component removal, dispatch to specialists, and re‑installation.
- Work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships across all levels.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, especially in high‑pressure situations and tight deadlines.
- Effective problem solver with strong analytical skills.
- Motivated and dynamic self‑starter.
- Apprentice trained / formally trained engineer (NVQ Level 3 preferred in Land Based Engineering / Plant Fitting), or a field service engineer with significant experience.
- Knowledge of field‑based diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Operating knowledge of heavy earth‑moving equipment.
- LDV driving licence.
- Experience with a variety of construction and static machines.
