Maintenance Operative - Student Accommodation

Homes for Students is the UK’s leading provider of student accommodation. We currently have a vacancy for a Maintenance Operative at our St Martins House property in Leicester. The role will involve 24 hours per week, with a rotating schedule of 4 shifts of 6 hours each.

Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and performing reactive maintenance on site.
• Ensuring statutory compliance and the property remains in good condition.
• Reporting and responding to issues promptly.
• Cooperating with suppliers, contractors, and internal staff.
• Providing a high quality customer experience, especially in handling fault reports.

• Previous experience of property maintenance in a similar environment; or qualified in a trade capable of working across multiple disciplines.
• Knowledge of safe working methods, COSHH, manual handling, working at height, etc.
• Awareness of health and safety issues and legal requirements.
• Excellent customer care skills and the ability to report progress and keep stakeholders informed.
• Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Prioritising workload to meet competing deadlines without close supervision.
• Proactive, initiative-driven and able to resolve issues quickly.
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a flexible approach.
