We are looking for a Project Management Officer to support us with the delivery of our portfolio. You will oversee full project life cycles and maintain oversight of the organisation’s wider portfolio, manage the teams responsible for delivery, & will lead on funding governance and reporting.

Nupur Arts is the East Midlands' largest South Asian dance academy, inspiring people through dance, community, and heritage. With 35 years' experience, we have developed globally recognised, award-winning talent, drawing on the creativity of young people and the British South Asian diaspora to make South Asian dance accessible. Our work spans three core areas:
Grassroots training for 200+ participants aged 3-55+
Pre-professional development programmes supporting progression into professional practice
The curation of professional showcases and commissions
Supported by Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO), we are undertaking a five-year growth plan to expand our reach and impact.
About the Role
We are seeking a Project Management Officer to manage and deliver our organisational portfolio, including the Academy, NPO-funded projects and events, and additional activities. You will line‑manage project staff, oversee full project life cycles, and maintain portfolio oversight, with responsibility for NPO governance and reporting.
Reporting to the Associate Director and Artistic Director, and occasionally the Board, the role supports a varied programme including festivals, theatre productions, wellbeing and education programmes, artist development, professional commissions, and sector research.
The role is Leicestershire-based, with three days per week in our Leicester City Centre office and on-site attendance for key events. This is a six‑month fixed‑term freelance role, with potential extension based on performance.
Job Requirements- Minimum 2 years' project management experience, including managing or coordinating teams
- Working knowledge of project management tools and communication platforms (e.g. Excel, Trello, MS Project, Teams or Slack)
- Experience and understanding of the UK Performing Arts sector
- Strong strategic planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation skills
- Proactive, self‑motivated approach with the ability to work independently & in teams
- Strong data analysis, reporting, and organisational skills
- Effective time management and prioritisation
- Confident written & verbal communication, including stakeholder and relationship management
- Knowledge of the Leicestershire area & communities
- Understanding of arts, culture, and heritage funding frameworks in England
- Experience working with a funded arts organisation/ NPO
- Knowledge of EDI and safeguarding policies
Key Responsibilities
Lead end‑to‑end delivery of projects across the organisational portfolio, overseeing the full lifecycle from planning to close‑down and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Maintain oversight of the project portfolio, priorities, timelines, and dependencies.
Manage funder reporting and governance requirements, including NPO activity plans, financial reporting, and surveys, ensuring compliance with funding and regulatory standards.
Support board reporting, audits, funding reviews, and funding applications.
Line‑manage and coordinate project teams, providing clear direction, task allocation, and performance oversight.
Develop and manage project plans, budgets, risk registers, KPIs, and reporting for senior leadership, funders, and the Board.
Oversee financial management, forecasting, grant claims, and evidence submissions.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders and capture learning and impact
