The RoleTo support the continued growth and delivery of high-value European programmes, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager / QS to lead the commercial and contractual delivery of large-scale POS FMCG roll-out programme.
AccountabilityWorking alongside the Senior Project Manager, the Commercial Manager / QS will take ownership of all commercial, contractual, and cost management aspects of assigned projects. This includes oversight of budgets, procurement, supplier contracts, cost forecasting, and risk management across multiple markets. You will be instrumental in ensuring projects are delivered profitably, efficiently, and in line with the Company's commercial and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead cost control and financial reporting for multi-million-pound POS FMCG roll-outs across multiple markets.
- Work with the Senior Project Manager to align budgets and delivery schedules.
- Produce cash flow forecasts, monitor actual costs, and manage financial performance.
- Provide commercial advice during project planning, design development, and implementation.
- Support senior management in commercial decision‑making, value engineering, and margin optimisation.
- Review, draft and manage client and subcontractor contracts where applicable.
- Administer variations, compensation events, and extensions of time.
- Prepare and validate applications for payment, final accounts, and close‑out documentation.
- Maintain accurate commercial documentation and contract registers.
- Work jointly with the Senior Project Manager to source, evaluate, and appoint suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing structures, and service level agreements.
- Ensure compliance with agreed budgets, technical specifications, and delivery milestones.
- Drive value through competitive procurement and cost engineering initiatives.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the Senior Project Manager in maintaining compliance with legal, financial, and corporate governance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to the Company's commercial processes and reporting standards.
- Act as the commercial counterpart to the Senior Project Manager, ensuring seamless coordination between commercial, operational, design and technical teams.
- Attend regular project meetings, provide commercial updates, and report key financial metrics.
- Contribute to client-facing reports and reviews, presenting clear cost and contract positions.
Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years' experience in commercial / QS roles within retail design, POS, fit‑out, FMCG roll-out environments.
- Strong grasp of contract law, procurement, tendering, and variation management.
- Proven ability to manage commercial performance across multi‑country programmes and multi‑vendor supply chains.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and reporting abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, cost management tools, and project reporting systems.
- Effective communicator, able to present commercial positions clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as required.
