Salary: £42,839 - £46,142 per annum

Work Hours:
Full-time (37 hours), Monday to Thursday 08:30 to 17:00, Friday 08:30 to 16:30
Flexible Work Option: 9-day fortnight, with potential overtime due to duty requirements
Relocation:
Standard relocation package available (must relocate within 20 miles of the Clock Tower)
Drivers required:
Access to a car for visits (central car user scheme, mileage and parking expenses covered)
About the Role:
Leicester City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Qualified Social Worker to join our Children in Need (CIN) Team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic team with a manageable caseload, focusing on Child Protection (CP) and Court Work. The ideal candidate will have experience in undertaking CIN/CP assessments, court proceedings, and managing complex cases.
As a QSW in the CIN team, you will be part of a supportive and skilled team, reporting into two Service Managers, with 8 Team Managers and fellow QSWs.
Your role will involve managing a caseload of approximately 20 children, with a strong focus on safeguarding, care planning, and supporting children and families through complex and challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake CIN and CP assessments to identify risk and support children and families.
Prepare court reports, attend hearings, and represent the Local Authority in care proceedings.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
Manage a caseload of approximately 20 children, ensuring timely decision-making and progress on cases.
Take part in a duty rota (on-call once a month) and respond to safeguarding concerns as needed.
Provide direct support and supervision to Assistant Practitioners (APs) and other team members.
Promote the welfare of children and ensure that care plans and safeguarding measures are adhered to.
Contribute to multi-family cases, often involving multiple children and multi-generational households.
Drive the service forward, ensuring compliance with statutory timescales and best practice guidelines.
Key Requirements:
Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in CIN/CP work, with proven court experience.
Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification and Social Work England registration.
Core experience in working with complex cases involving child protection, care proceedings, and CIN/CP plans.
Ability to manage a dynamic caseload of children with varying needs, including multi-agency collaboration.
Must be a driver with access to a car, as visits will be required.
Excellent communication, report-writing, and assessment skills.
Full-time commitment preferred; part-time hours considered.
Essential Requirements:
* Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
* At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
* Social Work England Registration
* Driving license and access to own vehicle
