Salary: £15 -£18 per hour
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
To fabricate, weld, and assemble structural components to high quality standards, ensuring strength, accuracy, and compliance with engineering specifications and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Perform structural welding using MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding processes according to project requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical weld symbols.
- Fabricate and assemble metal structures, frames, brackets, and components to precise tolerances.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and aligning components.
- Carry out weld inspections, checking for accuracy, penetration, distortion, and overall quality.
- Use measuring tools such as calipers, squares, gauges, and tape measures to verify dimensions.
- Operate fabrication equipment (e.g., saws, grinders, drills, press brakes, rolling machines) as required.
- Work safely at all times, following welding standards, PPE requirements, and company safety policies.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on welding tools and equipment.
- Record work completed and report defects, discrepancies, or design issues to supervisors.
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance fabrication quality and efficiency.
- Proven experience as a structural welder or fabricator in a manufacturing, industrial, or workshop environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret welding symbols and technical drawings.
- Demonstrated competence in MIG and/or TIG welding; stick welding as required.
- Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and/or aluminium structural components.
- Welding certifications (e.g., coded welding, AWS, EN, or equivalent).
- Experience in precision fabrication or complex assemblies.
- Familiarity with non‑destructive testing (NDT) requirements or inspection processes.
- Excellent welding technique and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of weld quality standards and structural integrity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good problem‑solving abilities when fitting or aligning components.
- Strong focus on safety and high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast‑paced production environment.
