ThePosition
We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager – Utilities to lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of utility works across a diverse and evolving programme. You’ll manage the full lifecycle of allocated utility projects from feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring all utilities activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with cost, schedule, and quality expectations.
Responsibilities- Define and manage the scope of utility works, including connections, diversions, protections, and maintenance across multiple services.
- Develop and implement delivery strategies aligned with the overarching programme execution plan.
- Engage with clients, utility providers, contractors, and internal teams to agree solutions and drive best‑value outcomes.
- Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Lead the safe and timely delivery of utility activities, monitoring progress and reporting on milestones, risks, and budget.
- Anticipate and resolve issues, escalating where necessary and supporting continuous improvement across the programme.
- Develop and maintain detailed schedules, ensuring integration with wider project timelines.
- Review contractor schedules and deliverables to ensure compliance and readiness.
- Apply Earned Value Management and support knowledge capture and lessons learned.
- Build strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven experience delivering utility projects (power, water, gas, telecoms, drainage) in complex, fast‑paced environments.
- Strong understanding of safe digging practices and service avoidance (HSG
47), BWIC, and CDM Regulations. - Confidence coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong decision‑making skills with a focus on project priorities and best‑for‑programme outcomes.
- Track record in building client relationships and leading motivated teams.
- Degree‑level education and/or recognised project management qualifications.
- Reside locally to Leiston or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
- NRSWA Qualification.
- Utilities safety accreditations (e.g., EUSR).
- National Water Hygiene certification.
Visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high‑level security clearance, meaning we can only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g., EPR/nuclear new build).
