Learning Support Workers – Severe & Complex – Anderson High School (SIC

Join Living & Working in Shetland as a Learning Support Worker. This role involves assisting children and young people with additional support needs (ASN) in a six‑year school, including Anderson High School and its associated primary schools.
Key Responsibilities- Support children with severe and complex additional support needs within the department and mainstream classes.
- Work alongside teachers and with professional teams (speech therapist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, child psychologist, etc.).
- Implement individualised education programmes for each child or group.
- Collaborate with staff to follow the programme and deliver tailored support.
- Assist in the management and education of pupils across the Shetland community.
- Post grade: G/H (not career graded).
- 3 permanent part‑time posts (30 h/ week each) and 1 permanent part‑time post (17 h/ week).
- 2 temporary part‑time posts (30 h/ week) until 16 Aug 2026.
- Pay inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance (£1.48 / hr).
- 39 weeks per year plus 6.24 weeks pro‑rata paid holiday (taken during school holidays).
- Flexible working arrangements available.
- Relocation package does not apply.
- Interview expenses paid within Shetland.
- Qualified or unqualified Learning Support Worker; assessment during selection will determine the role grade and duties.
- Completion of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or an update prior to offer.
- Eligibility to work in the UK without requiring visa sponsorship.
- Provide two unrelated reference contacts during the application process.
