Position OverviewThe University of Lethbridge Information Technology Services (ITS) department is seeking applications for an Endpoint Specialist Technician. This is a full-time, continuing position located at our Lethbridge campus. Preference will be given to candidates who will work full-time at the Lethbridge campus; however, some hybrid work arrangements for Alberta-based candidates may be arranged.
Responsibilities- Designing and architecting virtual and physical desktop deployment solutions to meet business needs.
- Campus wide administrative support of various end user and lab systems.
- Monitoring of virtual and physical desktop systems including health, utilization, operation, application deployment and overall desktop performance.
- System deployment, management, and monitoring software for desktops, currently Microsoft Configuration Manager.
- The Endpoint Specialist Technician also provides Tier 2 support to the ITS Client Services team in the resolution of complex customer and desktop support requests.
- This position maintains a very broad knowledge of many aspects of infrastructure including end user applications, networking concepts and practices and Windows Server operating systems.
- This position requires a high level of collaboration with other technical teams, particularly with the ITS Systems team in joint initiatives like Microsoft Configuration Manager, Azure, Autopilot, among others.
- The position is often responsible for troubleshooting and analyzing complex issues across the University’s systems and services.
- This position provides strategic guidance for these technologies through independent initiative and regular collaboration with peers across teams, other institutions, and provincial, national, or other collaborative bodies.
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability in architecting endpoint deployment and management solutions such as Microsoft Configuration Manager, Intune and Autopilot.
- Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Solid understanding of evolving technology and complex systems configurations.
- Ability to quickly and logically troubleshoot problems. Ability to quickly access and assimilate new information.
- Strong understanding of a wide variety of IT technologies and methodologies. Apple Device Management and/or Apple School Manager experience would be an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with service management processes such as incident management, service request management, change management, etc.
- Strong attention to detail in relation to configuration and administration of a large variety of systems.
- Must possess strong coordination, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- Must be an innovative self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
- A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $5,291.00 - $5,990.00 monthly
Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $5,291.00 - $6,687.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 12)
