General Warehouse Volunteers support the Operations Team with the receipt, storage and preparation of food and non-food products to facilitate food bank programs and services. Duties include tasks such as sorting, repackaging, hamper building and bundling, in addition to maintaining general warehouse organization and cleanliness. These tasks are done safely and effectively through detailed processes while adhering to food safety guidelines.

• Support Operations Team – Volunteers will be cross trained in duties to ensure the flexibility to fill in where needed in their assigned pillars.
• Weigh and record food and non-food donations.
• Move perishable and non-perishable donations to proper storage after recording weights.
• Sort, stock, bundle and repackage food and non-food items as directed.

Must be 16 years old or above. Minors are accepted on a case-by-case basis.

• Successful completion of Food Banks Alberta Safe Food Handling Course (Online link provided).
• Ability to perform heavy lifting activities on a regular basis (40lbs and over).
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative;
  Support Workers are encouraged when clients are supported in other environments.
• Experience with warehouse equipment is not required but is an asset (pallet jacks, bailers).
• Basic computer skills are an asset.

• Morning shift
  • 8:30am-12pm, OR
  • 9am-12pm
• Afternoon shift
  • 1pm-4pm, OR
  • 1pm-3pm
• Weekend or after hour shifts will be determined as needed.
• Interfaith Food Bank has a 2 shifts per week maximum.
• Willing to make long-term (at least 4-month commitment ideal).
