What you'll be doing

Balfour Beatty Living Places has created an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Living Places business unit in Lincoln.

Role Purpose


• Manage all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, from initial calculations to final figures.

• Minimise project costs and enhance value for money while maintaining standards and quality.

• Typically, be a Chartered Member of RICS, ICES, or CIOB.

• Manage and mentor a small team of less experienced commercial staff.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Order information and systematically check data.
  • Critically appraise, estimate, and negotiate with third parties.
  • Review complex contract programmes such as Time-Location.
  • Assist with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes.
  • Monitor subcontract activities, measure, and respond appropriately.
  • Analyze commercial progress and report to senior project staff.
  • Manage commercial aspects with customers and stakeholders.
  • Prepare procurement programmes and develop strategies.
  • Analyze rates & prices, and agree on variations and compensation events.
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate claims when required.
  • Prepare internal reports, commercial progress, and financial reconciliations.
  • Manage HR/People aspects for direct and indirect reports.
  • Support the development of others through professional mentoring.
  • Produce plans for team goal achievement.
  • Support recruitment of lower grades.
  • Undertake constructability analyses using construction programmes.

Qualifications &

Experience:

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
  • Membership of RICS, ICES, or CIOB (or working towards).
