Overview

We are currently seeking a Civil Engineering Placement Student to join our team.

As a Civil Engineering Placement Student, you will have a structured, mentored training programme which provides an insight into our business whilst you will gain valuable experience of Civil Engineering in line with your studies.

More about what you will do…
  • Preparing and communicating Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks
  • Maintaining site records and quality documents (cost, time and safety)
  • Managing and setting out activities whilst gaining experience of survey instruments
  • Liaising with and supervising other site staff and operatives ensuring work is carried out in a safe manner
  • Control and determine quantities of materials against project plans
  • Carry out short‑term planning
  • Supporting Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance requirements
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required

  • Working towards a Civil Engineering degree

  • A driven, self‑motivated attitude, with the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • An ability to form positive working relationships within the team and across all departments
  • A full UK driving licence to fulfil the duties of the role
You will gain:
  • Opportunity to put theoretical and academic knowledge into a practical setting through working with professional employees on live Civil Engineering projects
  • Develop best practice knowledge in Civil Engineering and Construction Methodology
  • Experience in Pavement Construction, Temporary works, Traffic Management, Earthworks, Structures, Drainage, Utilities and Accommodation Works
  • Experience with Survey equipment, Levelling, GPS and Total Station
  • Working knowledge of in‑house manufactured materials including Asphalts, Concrete and Aggregates
  • Experience material testing
  • Develop relationships within the Civil Engineering and Construction Industry
