- Greet patients in a friendly, professional manner.
- Manage check‑ins, arrivals, and queries at the reception desk.
- Handle incoming telephone calls, provide information, and direct queries appropriately.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Book, amend, and manage patient appointments using the clinical system.
- Support patients with accessing services, including online platforms where applicable.
- Assist with repeat prescription requests following practice procedures.
- Signpost patients to appropriate healthcare professionals or services.
- Update and maintain accurate patient records.
- File, scan, and process clinical documents and correspondence.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail.
- Support clinicians and management with routine administrative tasks.
- Process registrations, deductions, and patient documentation as required.
- Assist in maintaining organised and tidy reception and admin areas.
- Work collaboratively with reception, clinical, and management teams.
- Follow practice protocols to support safe and effective service delivery.
- Participate in training, meetings, and performance reviews.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and a positive patient experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritise, multitask, and remain calm under pressure.

- Competent computer and typing skills.
- Experience in a healthcare, customer service, or busy administrative environment.
- Knowledge of GP clinical systems and must be EMIS trained.
- Understanding of confidentiality, data protection, and safeguarding.
- Qualifications.
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
- Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care.
- IT skill computer skills and Excel.
- Experience.
- Must have experience working with public and EMIS book within a GP surgery.
