The closing date is 23 January 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our dental laboratories for a dedicated Prosthetics Dental Technician to work with our team at the University Dental Hospital of Liverpool.

Applications are invited from Dental Technicians who are fully registered with the General Dental Council, whether your experience and background is based in a commercial dental laboratory or NHS hospital setting.

As a Dental Technician within a Dental Hospital setting, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care by designing, constructing, and repairing custom‑made dental appliances, based on prescriptions from dentists and clinical dental specialists. This includes ensuring all appliances meet the required clinical, aesthetic, and functional standards while adhering to strict infection control protocols and relevant healthcare regulations.

Experience in a broad range of prosthetics techniques and materials is required. We currently utilise both analogue and some digital production processes across all laboratory departments.

You may also be involved in direct clinical support activities such as shade matching, appliance fitting consultations, and technical troubleshooting, as well as participating in quality assurance processes, clinical governance, and continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an innovative, talented and self‑motivated individual to join our dental team. The successful candidate will have good knowledge and practical experience of prosthetics restorations. There is also a shared responsibility to support the wider restorative team within the laboratory, when needed. Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Plan design and construction of complete and partial dentures‑incorporating duplicate denture techniques and cobalt chrome.
  • Plan design and construction of occlusal splints. Both hard and soft for TMJ analysis and other forms of bite‑raising problems including sleep apnoea devices.
  • Work effectively as part of a team demonstrating attention to detail, good organisational & communication skills plus compliance with laboratory regulations and protocols.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work within a busy laboratory environment.
  • Develop skills and participate in quality assurance processes, clinical governance, and continuing professional development.
