The Role We are seeking an experienced hands-on Marine Engineer to join the technical team responsible for the day-to-day engineering support of a fleet of pilot boats, crew-transfer/gig boats, oil-spill response vessels and hydrographic survey craft based in Liverpool. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will play a key role in keeping these high-readiness vessels fully operational 24/7.

Key Responsibilities Act as Duty Engineer on a shared rota (approximately one week in three on-call) providing out-of-hours engineering cover Carry out planned and corrective maintenance on marine diesel engines, propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, hydraulics, electrical systems and hull structure Complete all tasks within the computerised planned maintenance system (PMS) Assist with stock control and re-ordering of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic spares Maintain accurate engineering records, checklists and certification Support dry-dockings, refits and class surveys when required Ensure full compliance with MCA, Flag State, ISM and company HSEQ standards Candidate Requirements Essential Served as a seagoing Marine Engineer (EOOW / 4th Engineer / 3rd Engineer / 2nd Engineer) OR extensive shore-based experience will also be considered if on similar high-speed craft Strong hands-on experience with marine diesel engines (Volvo Penta, MTU, Caterpillar, Scania, MAN etc.),

gearboxes, waterjets and pod drives Solid fault-finding ability across mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical systems Full UK driving licence Live within 1 hour commuting distance of Liverpool waterfront (essential due to on-call requirements) Right to work in the UK without sponsorship Flexible attitude to working hours and on-call duties Desirable (but not essential) Previous shore experience on pilot boats, CTVs, wind-farm support vessels or workboats Formal qualifications such as HNC/HND Marine Engineering, EOOW CoC or above
