Mott Mac Donald is a global engineering, management and development consultancy dedicated to delivering transport solutions for ports worldwide. The Ports Team develops and delivers infrastructure for gas and liquid product terminals.

Overview of the Role

We are looking to appoint a Principal Ports Engineer with experience in gas and liquid product terminals who will join our growing Ports Team. The role requires ownership of projects, collaboration with peers and early‑career professionals, and delivering excellence for our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre‑feasibility and feasibility studies for marine facilities of new gas or liquid product terminals
  • Prepare and present technical reports and other technical material to clients and stakeholders
  • Lead the structural design delivery of marine jetties for gas and liquid products, supporting others with engineering calculations, drawings and specification documents
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate jetty structures with topside process and equipment for terminal operation and safety
  • Support constructability assessments and the preparation of construction sequences
  • Lead the preparation of tender documents technical volume
  • Review and approve contractor designs to ensure quality, adherence to project performance specifications and other requirements
  • Support early career professionals in developing skills related to design of gas and liquid product terminals
  • Represent Mott Mac Donald at industry events and technical fora
  • Support the team in business development and client engagement activities when required
Candidate Specification
  • Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered or near chartership with relevant professional institution (or equivalent)
  • Ability to deliver complex projects from concept through execution within set deadlines and budget constraints
  • Proven experience in structural design calculations for jetty structures and leading others; strong knowledge of relevant design standards and guidelines (API, AISC, OCIMF, BS 6349, Eurocode, PIANC, etc.)
  • Experience and proficiency in structural design software and familiarity with its integration with CAD software
  • Strong communication, team working, excellent problem‑solving skills and drive to innovate
Working Hours

Position is available as part‑time, job‑share or full‑time. You will be required to travel overseas for project assignments when needed.
