Temporary Works Engineer I'm currently working with a leading construction engineering and design consultancy that is looking to appoint a Temporary Works engineers into their established Construction Engineering Design team. This team sits within a large multidisciplinary engineering capability (circa 100 engineers) and supports some of the UK's most complex and high-profile construction and infrastructure projects. The focus of the role is on temporary works design, buildability, construction methodology, and procedural compliance, working closely with site teams and senior stakeholders.
The Role As a Temporary Works engineer, you'll be advising and supporting projects from tender stage through to delivery, ensuring solutions are safe, compliant, practical, and buildable.
Key responsibilities include:
Advising Temporary Works Coordinators and senior business stakeholders on the effective implementation of Temporary Works standards and procedures
Providing technical and practical advice on temporary works design within your competency
Carrying out formal and informal Temporary Works compliance audits and supporting continuous improvement
Supporting tenders and bids through feasibility studies, outline design schemes, and buildability input
Delivering alternative solutions and value engineering to improve programme, cost, and constructability
Providing design management and coordination support, including acting as Lead Designer where required
The Ideal Candidate
This opportunity would suit an experienced Temporary Works professional who enjoys a mix of technical input, site engagement, and advisory responsibility.
You'll ideally have:
Incorporated or working towards Incorporated status with a relevant professional institution (e.g. IEng MICE or equivalent)
Strong practical experience in temporary works within construction or civil engineering
A solid understanding of temporary works procedures, compliance, and best practice
Confidence engaging with project teams, site staff, and senior stakeholders
