Job Overview
An exciting opportunity for a band 5 nurse to join a dynamic, motivated team of renal nurses who deliver a high standard of specialist outpatient care.
Experience Within Nephrology / Dialysis is EssentialYou will be working in a friendly and supportive environment providing comprehensive care and support to dialysis‑dependent patients on our Dialysis outreach team that runs 7:00‑19:30 Monday to Saturday, plus 12‑18 on Sundays.
Main Duties of the Job- Set up dialysis machine according to patient prescription
- Band 5 nurses will assess patients before dialysis
- Calculate and set dialysis prescription on the dialysis machine
- Use ANTT technique as per Trust protocol
- Access vascular access and commence dialysis treatment
- Deliver prescribed IV medication via dialysis machine
- Monitor patients during treatment
- Troubleshoot any alarms during treatment
- Discontinue and disconnect patient at end of dialysis
- Document treatment on Cyber
REN and other Trust systems - Clean dialysis area as per Trust protocol
- Prioritise patients based on clinical urgency.
- Support early discharge by ensuring outpatient dialysis is appropriately arranged.
- Contribute to reducing inpatient stay length of stay through proactive renal management.
- Maintain clear communication between renal unit, ward staff, bed managers and nephrology team.
- Liaise with members of the MDT, including nephrologist, pharmacists, dieticians, VA specialist nurses.

Desirable Criteria

Experience
- Recent clinical nursing experience as a student or as a registered nurse
Desirable Experience
- Experience with in relevant clinical setting
- Evidence of maintaining a clinical learning environment
- Evidence of working with learner
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
- BSc in Nursing (Diploma in Nursing as a minimum)
Desirable Qualifications
- Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor Training
- Post registration qualification in relevant specialty
