Food Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Food Safety Specialist to lead HACCP and food safety governance across a major FMCG manufacturing site. In this role, you will champion a Right First Time culture by embedding robust food safety systems, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with all internal standards and external regulatory requirements.

As the site’s Food Safety and HACCP lead, you will act as the primary expert for all food safety matters. You will own the HACCP framework, deliver site‑wide food safety training, manage allergen controls, and support new product development from a food safety perspective. You will also play a key role in external audits and internal reviews, ensuring standards are upheld and risks are proactively managed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the site HACCP system, ensuring full compliance and continuous improvement
  • Serve as the food safety subject‑matter expert and primary site contact
  • Deliver HACCP and food safety training across all functions
  • Strengthen allergen management processes and oversee improvements
  • Support product development and change management from a food safety perspective
  • Identify and close gaps in processes, standards, and practices
  • Support and lead external audits (FSSC 22000, ISO, FDA)
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to embed a strong food safety culture
  • Use investigation outcomes to drive updates to cleaning, hygiene, and quality standards
About You
  • Strong background in Quality, Food Safety systems, and food manufacturing
  • Experienced in processing food ingredients, especially dry powders
  • Skilled in risk assessment, problem‑solving, and technical investigation
  • Confident communicator who can present complex information clearly
  • Proven experience leading HACCP teams and cross‑functional initiatives
  • Competent in internal auditing; PCQI certification preferred
  • Proactive, decisive, and able to thrive in performance‑driven environments
  • Strong project management capability and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience supporting major external audits and internal governance reviews
  • Governance Manager, Factory Standards Manager, Quality & Food Safety leadership roles
