The Role

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our site management team and make an immediate impact. Working under the direction of the Quality Manager and Site Manufacturing Manager, you will ensure products that are manufactured comply with the Manufacturing specifications.

In this role, you'll oversee testing and quality assurance of ink formulations used in advanced printing technologies, while ensuring our products meet the highest performance, safety, and customer standards.

You will monitor and review customer cases and complaints and provide fast paced customer focussed resolutions to drive continuous improvements through the operations processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe working practices and promote high quality standards across the site.
  • Lead, coach, and manage the Quality Control team in collaboration with the Quality Manager.
  • Drive continuous improvement using statistical tools (SPC, Gauge R&R, Six Sigma) to improve product consistency.
  • Oversee day-to-day QC laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely testing of industrial inks and effective calibration and housekeeping.
  • Identify and resolve quality and capability issues through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and KPI review.
  • Support Packaging FMEA activities and manage quality issues with suppliers.
  • Manage customer complaints and generate quality documentation (COAs, MSDS, audit reports).
  • Verify raw material conformity and support trials and qualification of new or alternative materials.
  • Champion SHEQ compliance, risk assessments, safe systems of work, and a strong safety culture.
  • Promote company values, inclusive behaviours, team development, and ongoing training.
About You
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, able to assess data and make sound decisions.
  • Confident in quality testing processes and able to challenge results when needed.
  • Proven people-management skills, with the ability to address performance issues constructively.
  • Degree-qualified in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience analysing data using statistical tools (e.g. SPC, Power BI).
  • Experience in quality or technical roles within ink, coatings, or similar manufacturing (UV/solvent systems an advantage).
  • Strong communication skills and able to work cross-functionally to meet quality and customer requirements.
What You Can Expect
  • 25 days of basic holiday, plus options to buy or sell additional days, ensuring you have ample time to relax and recharge.
  • A discretionary bonus scheme, a testament to your hard work and dedication.
  • Life insurance, providing security and peace of mind for you and your loved ones.
  • Medical insurance with the option of purchasing a health cash plan, dental insurance, travel insurance and cycle to work scheme, ensuring your health is always a top priority.
  • Join our green car scheme, a step towards a more environmentally friendly commute, with free EV charging onsite.
  • Pension plan, starting with 8% employer contributions.

We are a highly successful company, we’re large enough to offer career development opportunities yet small enough for your contribution to be readily recognised and rewarded.

Positions may be at an advanced stage of the recruitment process and can close at any time.

Due to the nature of this role the successful candidate will need to complete a full 5 years' employment/educational references, a DBS check, and a health assessment. These will need to be completed before the successful candidate can start the role.
