We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Officer to support and maintain compliance with our Quality Management System (HACCP) and ensure all legislative and customer requirements are consistently met. This role is key to driving food safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement across the site while providing clear leadership and communication within the Technical team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and audit Critical Control Points (CCPs), including checks and records
- Audit pre-requisite programmes and site Quality Management Systems
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of customer complaints
- Audit hygiene standards for personnel, environment, and equipment during production
- Carry out investigative sampling and manage out-of-specification results
- Conduct internal audits of products and processes to ensure compliance with procedures, standards, and customer requirements
- Perform trend analysis (non-conformances, complaints, OOS results, foreign bodies) and drive targeted improvements
- Investigate, communicate, and implement corrective actions following internal and external non-conformances
- Support quality and process improvements, including traceability and supplier liaison
- Monitor and audit start-up checks, ensuring issues are resolved within agreed timescales
- Coach, train, and educate factory personnel at all levels on food safety and quality systems
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others
- Work in line with company health and safety rules, procedures, and food safety standards
- Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental issues promptly
- Comply with hygiene standards, safe systems of work, and Food Standards requirements
- Support investigations to prevent recurrence of accidents or incidents
Skills, Knowledge &
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a food technical or quality role
- Strong understanding of BRCGS standards and retail customer expectations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident working with colleagues at all levels
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Highly motivated, reliable, flexible, and adaptable
- IT literate
- Ideally a Full UK/EU driving licence with flexibility to travel between sites
