Postdoctoral Research Associate in Structure Determination for Materials Discovery

We are seeking an exceptional researcher with experience in structure determination of new solid-state inorganic materials to lead work on materials design and discovery. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in solution and an understanding of the structures of new materials across chemistry, physics, and materials science.
This position is part of an interdisciplinary team working across physical and computer science to develop new pathways to the design and discovery of inorganic materials as part of the Leverhulme Centre for Functional Materials Design. The role offers an environment that facilitates the development of new skills and the demonstration of creativity and leadership.
Required expertise: Proven experience in structure solution using powder and/or single crystal X‑ray diffraction–based techniques and electron diffraction methods.
The post is a fixed‑term contract until 28 February 2029. If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation of your PhD award, your salary will increase to Grade 7, spine point 31.
