Join us to apply for the Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Nano-electronics (24 months fixed term) role at Liverpool John Moores University
.
Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive institution rooted in Liverpool with a global presence. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of the university.
We are looking for a Post‑Doctoral Research Fellow to work in the School of Engineering on an innovative research project co‑funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) in the UK and the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the US.
The project is in collaboration with the University of Texas at Austin and the world‑leading institute IMEC in Belgium. It focuses on overcoming endurance and reliability challenges in atomic non‑volatile resistive switching (RRAM/ReRAM) memristors (Atomristor) and 2D MOSFET transistors (2
DFET) made in monolayer two‑dimensional semiconductor materials.
The key research objectives include:
- Conducting rigorous experimental studies to gain physical and operational insights that can translate into better‑engineered devices.
- Developing tailored testing protocols for improved switching cycles and reliable performance.
- Providing a scientific foundation for a new paradigm of deployable atomic devices for ultra‑low energy AI, neuromorphic and in‑memory computing systems, 6G and logic systems.
Qualifications:
- Hold or be nearing completion of a PhD in electrical and electronic engineering, physics, materials science, or a related discipline.
- Strong background and keen interest in nanoelectronics, microelectronics, semiconductor devices, and VLSI technology.
- Experience in nanoelectronic device characterisation, modelling, IC circuit design, or simulation is preferred but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Benefits:
- Generous annual leave entitlement.
- Pension scheme.
- Induction and development support.
- Family‑friendly policies.
Expected starting date: by 01 March 2026.
Informal enquiries may be made to Prof. W. Zhang ().
