Assistant Accountant

Escape Recruitment Services are partnering with our client, a successful SME based in West Lothian that has enjoyed progressive growth throughout the years. We are looking to add a talented Assistant Accountant to the existing finance team. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will provide financial support and analysis to the business and Stakeholders, within a fast-paced commercial environment, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the company's future growth plans.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:
Manage weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports, keeping everything on track and transparent.

Budgeting & Forecasting:
Work alongside departments to create and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.

Financial Analysis:
Dive deep into financial data to uncover opportunities for cost-saving and revenue enhancement.

Compliance:
Ensure all financial processes are up to scratch with the latest regulations and standards.

System Improvement:
Help us continually improve the accuracy and quality of our financial information.

Deputise for Finance Director:
Provide support and guidance to the wider finance team.

What We're Looking For:

Ideally you will be currently studying towards your ACCA/CIMA or achieved AAT Level 4 and looking to start your professional exams.
Previous experience in a busy, fast paced, SME environment.
Candidates that have previous experience in a similar Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant, Bookkeeper &/or Finance Analyst role would be ideal.
You will be highly analytical, able to understand and interpret financial data to non-financial staff, whilst identifying and recommending opportunities around cost saving and to increase profit margins.
Strong communication skills, including Stakeholder management and working cross functionally within the business, whilst providing support the wider finance team.
Confident IT skills, this should include advanced MS Excel skills and ideally previous experience of using either Xero &/or Quick Books
